With the E.625 built in 1928 and then with the groups E.626, E.326, E.400 and E.428, the era of the Italian 3.000 V c.c. electrical traction started. Many prototypes and serial locos working by this system of traction have been constructed and tested: the E.621, ex at "third rail" as E.620, the E.424, projected during the Second World War, and the Bo'Bo'Bo' machines of the groups E.636, E.645, E.646 and E.656/E.655. Since the end of the 60's the E.444 controlled the scene of the fastest trains, while beginning from the 80's the "Tigers" E.632, E.633 and E.652 signed the turning point of electronics. At the end of the '80 the first E.402 arrived, then followed by the E.402A, the E.402B and the modern E.412 and E.405. We can't forget the failures: the E.453, the E.454 or the never born E.665 ed E.666. |
